Twelve Arguments Against Animals

It's been said that new ideas pass through three stages in our society:

Ridicule  

Discussion 

Adoption

The idea that non-human animals have certain basic rights is not a new idea.

Intelligent, compassionate people have been advocating this idea throughout history.

                                  

What is new is the fact that the idea is beginning to capture the imagination of so many of us. We have actually begun to move from the ridicule phase into the discussion phase: and in some cases, even into the adoption phase.

Of course, those who have made their fortunes from the abuse of animals don't like this, and are trying everything in their power to step back into the ridicule phase.

And so, powerful companies hire stooges such as Rush Limbaugh to deride the idea that animals deserve ethical treatment.
